Los Angeles-Tel Aviv Partnership Program Los Angeles Hebrew High School is fortunate to be part of the Los Angeles-Tel Aviv School Twinning Program, coordinated by the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and the Municipality of Tel Aviv. The goal of this program is to foster and create ongoing relationships and dialogue between the citizens and institutions of both cities in order to benefit both communities. Educationally, the Partnership's goals are to reinforce students' Zionist and Jewish identities. Joint curricular projects constitute the basis for dialogue and integration. LAHHS is paired with Ironi Dalet, a first-rate high school in Tel Aviv. LAHHS 9th grade students host an Israeli student in their home for 10 days. In turn, LAHHS students travel to Tel Aviv with our Federation delegation and spend 10 incredible days in the Israel with the partners from Ironi Dalet where they get to experience the Jewish Homeland for themselves as well as utilize their Hebrew language skills.

" I learned that being a Jew is something I should be proud of and that it is my job to spread the word about Israel to people who don’t know the real truth. The history of the Jews is a special one and people need to remember it and pass it on to later generations." " Everything that I have experienced here in Israel has been memorable and made an impact on my life and the person/Jew I am today. Our trip to Jerusalem, Masada. Bedouin tents, and the Dead Sea was one of the most amazing things I have ever done. It gave me insight into our history as well as brought us closer together. This experience has opened my eyes to seeing new things that I would have never seen before. I now feel part of Israel and love it here. Thank you for this amazing experience. I am so grateful."
" My favorite activity on the trip was praying at the Kotel because I felt a strong connection with my Jewish ancestry." " I never realized how such an amazing place can have so many problems and conflicts that seem to never end. I hope many things for Israel but above all I hope one day this country will be at peace. I hope a day will come when all the fear will not exist and Israel can live freely and be secure. Our partnership group has truly become a family and I pray that we will remain a family even though half of us live on the other side of the world. This was one of the most amazing experiences of my life." " On this trip, I’ve learned how the connection all Jews have with Israel influence the bond with the Jews we’re with. We can all relate to what another is feeling which is what makes this program so spiritual and amazing."
2. After we came back from LA most of the kids kept in touch for 3 or 4 months and I hope that after they leave Israel we will keep in touch for a much longer time. 3. I wish the best for the Jewish Federation for the great work they are doing and also for all the partnership kids." " It was so amazing to build this connection between all of us, the Israelis and the Americans, and to see how Jewish people live all over."
" I learned a lot about Jews outside of Israel. I learned that there is a lot of love for Israel in LA. The memorial ceremony and the Israeli Independence Festival were very special. I also learned about the leaders of Israel, history of the Jewish homeland and how a normal life in Israel seems different for Jews that live outside of the country and have never been. I wish that all the delegations will meet again as a group and be friends forever." |
