Jewish Civics Initiative (JCI)LAHHS offers the Jewish Civics Initiative Program (JCI) as an elective for 10th and 11th graders. Here are a few of the comments from student's who enrolled in the JCI program over the last years: "Though Jewish Civics Initiative taught me many important lessons, I think the most important I learned is that everyone has a voice. Before this class, I never really thought that I, just a teenager, could make a difference in issues that I care about. I have learned that anyone can make a difference." "Going on the trip to Washington DC with my Hebrew High class and Panim was without a doubt one of the best experiences of my life. I bonded with my classmates and other Jewish students from all over the country as well, which was definitely a highlight of the trip." "Before this trip I saw it as just a thing to get out of school, have discussions, maybe meet a senator, you know no big deal. Then as the days went by I realized that it's more about developing as a human and becoming confident in myself. I developed as a human in that I had a chance to change my views on the homeless, and on political issues such as Sudan. Life is all about perspective and what this trip did was change my perspective on many things." So, please give this special course, trip and program your most careful consideration, it is well worth it!
