Who We Are

Los Angeles Hebrew High School has grown to be one of the largest supplementary schools in the United States that offers high school foreign language credit.

Established in 1949 as a Jewish community school at Menorah Center in Boyle Heights, LAHHS currently serves as the supplementary Hebrew school of choice for nearly 135 students in grades 7 through 12.

We honor our long, impressive history while continuously expanding and improving to keep pace with the changing times. We have re-envisioned our organization, opening our doors across and beyond all denominations in an effort to us to bring the benefits of an outstanding Jewish education to more families than ever before in the spirit of Klal Yisrael, bringing the full Jewish community together.

TELL ME MORE

LAHHS is comprised of weekday after-school and Sunday programming options that can be tailored to fit the unique needs of individual students.

Our innovative Ellie and Mark Lainer Family Foundation Hebrew Limmud Online Program, including some online components, provides students with even more scheduling and course flexibility.

We’ve established innovative and exciting educational programs that include:

  • Hebrew language instruction,

  • Study of biblical and rabbinic texts,

  • Academic electives on select Jewish themes,

  • Study of Jewish values,

  • Study of the history of Zionism

  • Israel advocacy training

Through a vibrant collaboration among our outstanding Board of Trustees, superb teaching faculty, dedicated office staff members, and committed parent and student body, LAHHS has become a center for high quality Jewish learning in Southern California.

In addition, we are proud to be “twinned” with Ironi Dalet High School in Tel Aviv as part of the Jewish Federation’s Tel Aviv-Los Angeles Partnership Program.
